Reminiscent of the all-in-one units that people owned in the late
'80s--before LPs started nearing extinction and well before MP3s first
hit the scene--the GPX HMTU3234 keeps nostalgic music fans entertained
for days on end. The 30-watt system, which includes a pair of full-range
speakers with metal grilles, plays everything from modern CDs and CD-Rs
in its three-disc front-loading CD player to old-school LPs on its
classic two-speed belt-drive turntable. Listeners can also play their
favorite cassettes from yesteryear, provided they haven't burned the
tapes in an '80s-purging moment, or use the dual cassette deck to record
songs from other sources. The CD player's most notable features include
20-track programming, CD intro, repeat and random play, and song
skip/search, all of which make it easy to find specific tracks and play
them in non-sequential order. In the meantime, all music fans will dig
the solid sound quality, which fills up a room with crisp, rich audio.
Additional features include a headphone jack for private listening and a
full-function remote control. For reference, each speaker measures 7.1
